What should the canvas include?

Keep the main subject near the visual center and leave breathing room around text or product edges. The square format gives you the same width and height, so it is easy to reuse across a feed grid. If the original photo is tall or wide, crop the least important background first instead of shrinking the subject until it becomes difficult to read.

Feed variants: square, portrait, and landscape

The square 1080 × 1080 canvas is the default starting point, but the feed supports other shapes, and it is easier to pick one deliberately than to let a crop decide for you. All three working sizes below can be produced in the editor without installing anything:

• 1:1 square — 1080 × 1080 px. The balanced default. Use the Instagram Post preset, which is preselected when you open the editor from this page.
• 4:5 portrait — 1080 × 1350 px. Fills more of the phone screen while scrolling. In the editor, pick the 4:5 crop ratio and keep the output canvas at 1080 × 1350.
• 1.91:1 landscape — 1200 × 630 px. The same wide ratio used for website share cards. The editor's Open Graph preset outputs exactly 1200 × 630, which you can reuse for a wide feed crop.

Whichever shape you choose, export once and check the result at phone size before publishing; the editor shows the exact output pixel dimensions next to the preview.

Quick workflow

1. Choose the canvas.
   Open the editor and select Instagram Post / 1080 × 1080.
2. Crop with intention.
   Move the image until faces, products, or labels are not cut off.
3. Add only useful overlays.
   Use text, a shape crop, a privacy sticker, or a dimension marker when it helps the viewer.
4. Export and check.
   Open the downloaded file before publishing and check small text at phone size.
